It began when MIX 106.3’s Kristen and Rod put out a call to build a dream princess playground for little Annabelle Potts, who was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour on 30 December 2016. And local businesses and community members far and wide, including our own customers, were quick to volunteer their time and skills to make that dream come true.

When James O’Sullivan from AEJ Landscaping (pictured above, middle), heard the call out on the way to a job, he didn’t waste any time in calling the radio station to offer his services as project manager. He says, “We’ve got a granddaughter about the same age and a grandson who was born at 26 weeks, so I’ve got a bit of an inkling of what the family is going through.”

James set to work calling in favours from local suppliers and we were more than happy to step up to the plate, donating hundreds of dollars’ worth of irrigation gear – which has now grown to thousands of dollars of plumbing gear for the ensuite make over! While the ensuite wasn’t in the original plan, it didn’t take long to rally up more volunteers – including O’Neill & Brown Plumbing from Queanbeyan – to get the job done.

Damian Rumball (pictured above left), project manager from GEOCON and former employee with Southern Innovations, was also quick to put his hand up and has designed a castle fit for a princess. Construction of the princess castle began yesterday and looks big enough to host many grand tea parties.

We are very proud to work alongside our customers, AEJ Landscaping, O’Neill & Brown Plumbing and GEOCON and amazed at the continued generosity of hundreds of Canberrans in building Annabelle’s Princess Playground.

The project has progressed well, and we’re looking forward to seeing the finished product!
